International Dance Day

Today is the International Dance Day…

It was introduced in 1982 and is celebrated on April 29 every year.

Pierre Chasselat. Le Fandango

Why this day?

It is a birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810), who was a creator of modern ballet.

The year 2005 focus of the Dance Day was on primary education. The 2007 Dance Day was dedicated to children.

A dance is the one of oldest art.
