Acadia National Park

95 years ago, February 26, 1919 territory of Sieur de Monts National Monument became a Lafayette national park. It was a first NP in the United States east of the Mississippi River.

Later it was renamed Acadia in 1929... Today Acadia National Park is consists of more than 190 km2, including Mount Desert Island, Isle au Haut, parts of Baker Island and the Schoodic Peninsula.

Now more than two millions people visit this park per year.
